So Close

I'm so close now I can almost taste the EV grin!

What a Beauty!What a Beauty!

The front seats have been installed, the rear "seat" is installed. The rear interior panels have been reupholtered and installed. Carpets have been installed. Center console is in. Parking break is in and working. Brakes and booster are working. All 12V systems are working. Acessory battery is in. Most of the high voltage wiring is done. Top is on properly.

I could almost bolt in the seatbelts, bolt on the doors and go register it. The missing piece right now is the charger and battery management system (BMS). I have a charger and BMS but they need some work, mainly some software. I'm guestimating at least 40h of work before I can use it to charge the car and drive down the road.

There are ofcourse many small details that need taking care of, but right now I'm focusing on getting it to a running and usable state so I can register it. I can work on the little things later.

So my list of things to do is:

Battery Management software
Install front batteries
install battery management system/ charger
Seatbelts
emergency disconnect
change transmission gasket, it's leaking.
Install bumpers for registration (it's the law)
Upgrade rear springs
install doors hood & trunk, temporarily
register it!

Things to do after registration:

paint doors
install doors
paint, install hood & trunk
alignment
take bumpers off
Add some fuses to 12V battery and DCDC
Perfect the charging system
Add cooling system to rear battery box
Add battery monitor display
Add SOC gauge
Add Amp gauge
Add Volt Gauge
Hook up temp gauge
Hook up heater
Install Radio

I'm not sure I need hood, trunk and doors to register it but I'd rather not have it look like a total science experiment.

Can't quite reach the pedalsCan't quite reach the pedals

You'll notice that I have different wheels on the rear and front. I bought a set of 4 cromodora wheels and tires on ebay. The guy sent me two and then dropped off the face of the planet. Oh well, paypal gave me half my money back so now I just gotta find a pair of cromodora ironcross alloy wheels. In the meantime I'll use two of the stock wheels in the front.

I've been doing some more spirited testing in my driveway. I can easily burn rubber in first, acceleration in 2nd and 3rd is very invigorating. Of course, I only have a 84V battery pack in it right now so it's a bit lighter than it will be when done.

See you

Thanks for doing the web page. I appreciate all of the good info you have accumulated. I am beginning to build the EVRacer and will enjoy learning from your build.

I am located near Yosemite National Park in the mountains of the Sierra at 4000 ft up. I hope I can build a light mountain climber!
